To be considered for service as a driver for National Carriers, a driver
must:
- Possess both a positive attitude and a clean, neat appearance.
- Have passed his/her twenty-third (23) birthday.
- Have one (1) year verifiable, over-the-road driving experience in
a tractor/trailer unit.*
- Pass National Carriers, Inc.'s description based physical examination.
- Pass a drug and alcohol screening examination.
- Have no serious moving violations in the past three (3) years, such
as:*
· Violations for reckless or careless driving
· Violations involving drugs or alcohol
· Violations for hit-and-run
· Violations for leaving the scene of an accident
· Violations for failure to report an accident
· Violations for speeding in excess of fifteen(15) mph over
the posted speed limit
· License suspension or revocation from any state for a
driving violation
· A reportable, preventable accident
- Have no more than two(2) non-serious moving violations within the
past year and no more than three(3) violations within the past three(3)
years.*
- Have no more than two(2) preventable, non-reportable accidents within
the past three(3) years.*
- Possess one(1) and only one(1) valid commercial drivers license(CDL),
with the following endorsements:
· General knowledge
· Air brakes
· HAZMAT (preferred)
- Be capable and willing to be away from the terminal and home for extended
periods of time.
- Be able to read and speak the English language fluently enough to
converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and
signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports
and records §391.11 (b)(2).
- Experience with temperature-controlled cargo, such as meat and produce,
is preferred.
